Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi on Saturday addressed the 18th edition of the Rozgar Mela, marking the distribution of appointment letters to more than 61,000 young recruits joining various government departments across the country. The initiative aims to strengthen employment generation and expand youth participation in public service.
According to a UNI report, the Rozgar Mela was organised simultaneously at 45 locations nationwide. The event is part of the government’s ongoing effort to conduct recruitment in mission mode and streamline the induction of new employees into government services.
Addressing the gathering via video conferencing, the Prime Minister said the day held special significance as it coincided with Parakram Diwas, National Voters’ Day, and the anniversary of the adoption of India’s National Anthem and National Song. He described the appointment letters as an opportunity for young people to contribute to nation-building.
The Prime Minister noted that the Rozgar Mela has so far facilitated the issuance of more than 11 lakh recruitment letters. He said the initiative has evolved into a structured platform to connect young aspirants with government employment opportunities.
Referring to India’s demographic profile, the Prime Minister highlighted efforts to create employment avenues both within the country and abroad. He said the government has entered into trade and mobility agreements with several countries, aimed at expanding global opportunities for Indian youth.
The Prime Minister also spoke about India’s economic growth, stating that the country has doubled its gross domestic product over the past decade. He pointed to increased foreign direct investment and growth in sectors such as electronics, pharmaceuticals, defence manufacturing, and automobiles as key drivers of job creation.
On women’s participation, he said more than 8,000 women received appointment letters at the event. He added that women’s participation in the workforce has seen a steady rise in recent years, supported by initiatives promoting entrepreneurship and self-employment.
Highlighting governance reforms, the Prime Minister referred to measures aimed at simplifying procedures and improving service delivery. He urged newly appointed employees to focus on citizen-friendly governance and reduce procedural hardships faced by the public.
The Prime Minister also encouraged recruits to continuously enhance their skills through capacity-building platforms designed for government employees. Union Minister Jitendra Singh and other senior officials attended the event.
The Rozgar Mela is expected to continue as part of the government’s broader recruitment drive, with further appointments planned in the coming months.
